Western Connecticut Youth Hockey Association (WCYHA) is a non-profit youth hockey association open to all youths eighteen (18) and under in the greater Danbury area (including New Fairfield, Newtown, Bethel and Brookfield). WCYHA is organized to provide youth with a recreational amateur hockey development program implemented through skills development and competition. WCYHA recognizes the broad range of ability and commitment among it participants and strives to provide appropriate instruction and competition within the constraints of cost and ice time. WCYHA does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, national origin or religious affiliations and seeks to place youth (boys and girls) with similar desires and judged abilities together on teams or in smaller groups to maximize enjoyment for all participants.
Article I. MAJOR OBJECTIVES
In that the game of hockey is a team sport that provides a means for bringing people together in a healthy atmosphere of competition, the objectives of Western Connecticut Youth Hockey Association (WCYHA) shall be:
To promote hockey as a means of providing an enjoyable and rewarding learning experience for players and participants.
To promote and develop player skills and abilities.
To promote and develop sportsmanship, fair play, pride and achievement through involvement.
To promote an environment where each player has equal opportunity to participate and develop.
To recognize and address the needs of player development for both recreational and competitive purposes.
To promote and develop players towards being responsible adults that our community can be proud to have as ambassadors.
To maintain affiliation and abide by the constitution and bylaws of the:

While traveling- to abide by the policies and regulations of those tournaments in which WCYHA teams participate, providing these in no way contravene the proceeding outlined governing bodies.
Article II. AFFLIATIONS
Connecticut Hockey Conference
The Connecticut Hockey Conference (CHC) consists of 38 youth hockey organizations throughout Connecticut. These local organizations make it possible for between 10 and 12 thousand young hockey players to have the opportunity to enjoy amateur hockey at many different levels. CHC provides the structure and the means for boys and girls age 4 to 19 to learn the necessary skills to play the sport of hockey. In order to further ensure the development of our players, CHC also provides training for coaches and officials.
As we are well aware, hockey is a competitive sport. CHC organizes Connecticut’s 775 teams into levels according to age group. These teams compete during the season in their appropriate levels and are ranked by a staff of CHC officials. Each level is structured to help meet the needs of the youth player.
INITIATION - Learn to skate programs RECREATIONAL - House and B level
COMPETITIVE - A level travel teams SELECT- Team Connecticut
To foster the competitive spirit, CHC provides year end tournaments. These tournaments provide for nearly 7,500 young hockey players to have a taste of tournament play fostering the desire to strive for the next level.
USA Hockey, Inc. is the national governing body for the sport of hockey in the United States. As such, its mission is to promote the growth of hockey in America and to provide the best possible experience for all participants by encouraging, developing, advancing and administering the sport.
WCYHA follows the USA Hockey core values of:

Loyalty- We aspire to teach loyalty to the ideals and fellow members of the sport of hockey.
