Western Connecticut Youth Hockey Association (WCYHA) is an organization operating youth hockey programs for the benefit of children in the Danbury metropolitan and surrounding areas. The program's mission and purpose include the following:
Develop character, sportsmanship, and physical fitness among the youth of the Danbury metropolitan and surrounding areas.
Promote, encourage, and improve the standards of amateur hockey.
To associate and be a "good neighbor" with other youth hockey associations.
To conduct an amateur hockey program consistent with the rules and regulations of the CHC and USA Hockey.
To perform or participate in other activities that will aid in reaching these objectives.
WCYHA is the greater Danbury area’s travel hockey program emphasizing a fun, challenging, family oriented hockey experience. It’s the next step in becoming the skilled hockey player you want to be!
WCYHA plays in the Connecticut Hockey Conference (CHC). Our skaters play in age appropriate levels and only travel the western half of the state for away games. No away game is further than 1 hour drive time. You won’t drive for longer than you’re actually playing in the game!
WCYHA’s home rink is the Danbury Ice Arena – ALL practices and ALL home games are played here. Practices are on fixed nights, early in the evening for younger players, and home games are on fixed weekend days usually starting at 9AM or later. You can have a family life and play hockey!
WCYHA players love hockey, but they excel in other sports as well. Our young athletes also play football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball and many other sports and activities, and WCYHA encourages that to properly grow young athletes. You don’t have to sacrifice your other sporting loves to play travel hockey!
WCYHA offers quality coaches who focus on player development and fun as much as on winning.
WCYHA coaches have high school, college and professional hockey experience. You’ll learn from experienced players who are good role models!
WCYHA invests in the development of our players by providing no-charge clinics, reduced price summer camps, dry land training, goalie instruction, and much more. Most of this is included in the tuition! You’ll be playing for an organization that puts both time and money into making you a better player!
WCYHA has families from Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, Brewster, Ridgefield, New Milford, New Fairfield, Newtown, Southbury and many other local towns. Carpool and meet new friends in your town through WCYHA!
WCYHA wants you to experience the fun, camaraderie and challenge of youth travel hockey. Don’t make your decisions about travel hockey based on what other people say about hockey. Get the facts from WCYHA and come see if you have what it takes to be a Jr. Colonial today!
